The intercom system works very well. One thing that should be pointed out in your description of this system. The word "wireless" is misleading. Wireless in this instance means the intercom uses the house wiring instead of having to run wiring to connect each unit. Wireless does not mean that intercom communication is not over the air.
The other thing is that for the system to work they have to be connected to receptacle circuits that are on the same "buss" in the breaker box.

I replaced my 15 year old VCR based Black and White security system with the Defender SN-300 color Security system with 4 Nightvision cameras for my small retail business. In the past, it was difficult to see a small 9" quad screen in B/W. Now I have a 19" color monitor hooked to the Defender DVR and the difference is huge. I really like the ability to switch from quad view to one camera for monitoring and playback then back to quad again. The picture is not HD quality, but is VERY, VERY good and clear. The DVR in highest quality will record 7-10 days of monitoring only. I haven't tried the low quality setting, but I am sure the DVR would record much, much more with the 500GB drive in the low quality setting! The nightvision cameras are a must and light my office well for recording. That was a huge bonus. The setup is easy and the menus also are easy to use. The networking is a little more of a challenge, but am working through this for watching the store from home. All in all, you can't beat the system for the money.

Summary: Overall this camera does everything well, and for the price, nothing comes close.
Setup was quick and painless. I plugged the camera into my router with the included cable and after checking my router settings for the IP address, I could access the camera straight from a browser. On the settings page I only modified the username/password, adjusted the pan/tilt speed and added my wireless settings. There are a lot of other options, but these are the basics to get up and running and allow placement of the camera anywhere within range of your wireless router with only the power adapter.
The picture is clear and works in all light conditions from total darkness to daylight. The IR is very useful in both of my toddlers rooms at night. The wide angle allows me to see a lot and with the pan/tilt I can see everything.
We have iPhones and we use an app called "Foscam Surveillance". It works well with these cameras (including the pan/tilt function) and is only $5. We can also access these cameras from outside our home over the internet either from a browser on say my computer at work or using the app on my iPhone. My husband set that up, send me a message and I will see if I can have him post some instructions on how to do that. It's great for checking on the kids when they are with the sitter or knowing that our home is safe when we are gone on the weekends. The peace of mind has been priceless for us.
My husband and I already had a few of the previous model, the Foscam FI8908W. Although not a giant leap, there are some definite improvements that make this a worthwhile upgrade. Some improvements are:
1.) Increased pan/tilt range and speed settings (fast is nice when following a running child!)
2.) Slightly improved look and smaller size
3.) Replaced the activity light on the front of the camera with an additional IR LED
4.) The onboard speaker and microphone have much clearer sound than the old model and are accompanied by additional audio input and output jacks on the back to allow an external speaker and/or microphone.
5.) Ability to turn off the IR LEDs from the web interface
Conclusion: My husband and I have found this IP camera is easy to setup and works well to remotely view areas around our home. Believe me when I say we did a lot of research, and for the price, nothing comes close to this IP camera.

I tried to get a decent picture from this camera in all light conditions. From bright sunshine to dim lit room. It was a horrible grey scale with a lot of interference. And we were no where near any other wireless devices at 2 of the 3 locations we tried to use the camera. I sent it back and bought a cheap Sony Camcorder that works great for our purpose. I did email the company and got no help from them. Thankfully it was bought through Amazon.

Honeywell Lynx Wireless Home Security System Review

Honeywell Lynx Wireless Home Security System

If you plan to install this kits yourself, you must know that the kits provided is not complete. You have to purchase electrical wires to connect to your transformer to your LynxR-2 control panel and telephone wires (26 gauge minimum) for phone connection. I used 18 gauge security wires to connect the transformer. For mounting the sensors (entry and motion), they assume that you would know how to mount them already. Before you mount the door entry sensors, test them out to see how far apart it can be away from the contacting magnet. I found that 3/4 inch apart is the maximum before you get a false reading. The magnet location does not have to be right at the edge of the door. If you try to position magnet right at the edge of the door, you might crack the edge of door. I did, and I had to patch the door :( . Overall, the installation part is not as hard comparing to the programming part. The kits comes with 3 installation and user manuals, but they are very difficult to follow. I design and repair commercial airplanes for a living, and I deal with all kind of installation and trouble shooting manuals, but these manuals are far more difficult to understand. I tried the steps over and over again to get it to work. I still have not get all the bugs out yet. I called Honeywell's technical support, and they refused to assist. When I purchased this LynxR-2 system online, and I was under the impression that technical services would be available from Honeywell, but they told me that they would only support the licensed installers. Hope this info help you. Best luck. :D.

We have 6 of this cameras installed in my store. The other ones are Swan cameras. We like this cameras much more. They're easy to use, simple to set up and generally offer good quality at a reasonable price. We really found that there was very little to dislike about this camera, especially compared to the Swan cameras.Of primary importance in a camera is the quality of its images. While we weren't blown away by the video quality, it is more than acceptable. The image was sharp and clear, retaining focusing all the way into the far distance. One slight disappointment was the colour balance, which isn't perfect, but this matters very little for a surveillance camera. The most impressive feature was the infrared night vision. The camera automatically detects when light levels drop and switches on a powerful array of LEDs. These are able to illuminate the entire field of vision, something that other infrared cameras have failed to do.

I have been using my new VTECH phones for about a month now--I wanted to wait at least this long before submitting a review so I could give the product a workout and submit a fair review.
The phones are light weight but well built; the buttons have a great feel and the display is easy to read. I spent about 10 minutes reviewing the nicely organized and easy-to-understand instruction manual before I was well on my way to programming numbers and setting other features. The sound quality has been consistently good and once you've reviewed the manual you'll find the buttons and features to be quite intuitive.
From a practical standpoint, I was looking for a two-station cordless phone that does not have a built-in answering machine as I have voicemail with my phone service. So this phone fit the bill.
There are a couple of features I miss from my old phones I replaced--a belt clip (for trips to the garage when I don't want to miss a call) and a headphone jack. However, given the excellent price point of this product, I have no room to complain (For long conference calls I have been using the speakerphone feature, which also works well). I read some reviews where people complained that this phone does not have distinctive ring tones. If this is a feature you absolutely can't live without, look for a different product--remember, the price is great for what you get.
In case you're wondering, I have had zero interference with my home wireless network, which would have prompted me to immediately return this product.
The bottom line: If you're looking for a good-quality phone at a very attractive price, this is the one.

I was looking for a quality wireless doorbell system that has the range for my long ranch house that has two front doors. The Honeywell RCWL300A1006 claimed to have a 250' operating range. It does. I just finished installing the sytem and it works well. The installation is simple. The only reason I did not give the unit 5 stars is because it has only 3 ring tones. However, one is the "Let 'em In" Beatles sound which is cool enough. I've purchased cheaper models that did not work. My suggestion is spend the money and buy this system. Even better, buy it when Amazon gives you free shipping!

I'll write a longer review when I have time.
The Swann DVR I had just died after almost 2 years. And I'm so happy it did (read my review on the Swann DVR)
I have had this DVR about a month now and I'm blown away by how much better it is.
I have not set up the internet access yet, so I'll update my review when I do that. But in every other way this DVR is better than the Swann.
- I was very surprised to to see the picture was sharper than the Swann on my monitor. Which seemed strange since it has the same cameras.
- The playback sharpness is MUCH SHARPER on this DVR. This is because the compression method used must me MUCH BETTER. The live feed and the playback look the same actually, you can't even tell it's a recording. Even on the the Swann's highest setting the playback looked like garbage.
- This DVR comes with a mouse! So using the system is much like using a computer. You have cursor on the screen icons, which is really, great.
- the remote on this one actually works. On the Swann you had to hold the remote about a foot away from the DVR. And even then you might be fast forwarding a 2x speed, hit pause and have the speed go to 3x, hit stop and the speed would go up to 4x.... really the the Swann was a piece of garbage.
- The search is MUCH better on the Defender. You can check only 1 camera at a time, instead of having to review every single camera.
- The record options are MUCH MUCH better. For EACH camera you can set it to record all the time, motion, or not at all. On the Swann, you have not choice - how you set 1 is how they are all set. On the Defender, you can set them each individually.
- The motion detector actually WORKS on the Defender. I think it has some kind of pre roll. When you playback sometimes there will be no movement for a second (and you might think the motion detector was set off by mistake), then someone will suddenly enter the frame - so as I said, it must have some kind of pre-roll function built in. On the Swann, sometimes you would only see someone just after they were leaving the frame, you would see a shoulder, but no way to identify the person, even though they had walked down the hall 15 feet straight towards the camera!
- The Defenders Motion detector goes off ONLY WHEN THERE IS MOTION! On the Swann I had to constantly tweak the brightness and contrast to keep the motion detector from going off every 10 seconds sometimes. (Literally, not set right - the motion would go off every 10 seconds - in a hall with no windows. Then the florescent bulb in the hall would go out and be replaced, I would have to set it up all over again.)
- The Defender still records while you are in playback mode! The Swann stops recording in playback mode :(
I really could go on, but don't have the time at the moment, after I set up the remote network access I will finish the review.
UPDATE:
May 8,2011
I forgot until now to finish the review!
When I originally set up the network access (remotely from my laptop) There was a slight error but I called the tech support who helped me put the "something" outside the "something range" (I forgot exactly what we did) and since then it has worded flawlessly. I just checked it after not using it for months and I'm still connected! I have not set up use on my iphone yet because I'm still running OS3 and have not updated to OS4. I've been too lazy to clear all my photos and videos off my phone. So I'm not sure how the iphone app works....
This is a great machine. I just learned that I can set it to show all 8 cameras but when there is motion in one camera it will fill the screen on that camera for 10 seconds (or longer if you want to set it that way). This is a nice setting because after a while you don't notice movement in the tiny frames. But when suddenly you have 9 squares (only 8 cameras) and the screen jumps to full screen mode - you notice that, so you notice the movement in the frame. Great for when a delivery person comes to the door and you have headphones on.

These cameras work very well as security devices and are reliable and easy to set up. I have two in place. I ordered this as an additional camera and the design has been changed. There is now a fan on the power unit of the camera which makes a noticible noise. This may not be a problem if the camera is placed out of the way somewhere but would be heard if it is in a public/ open area.

Mace Home Security System Wireless Siren #80358 Review

Mace Home Security System Wireless Siren #80358
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've given an extensive review of the the Mace Home Security unit and included a review of this siren. When set up it has an effective range of about 200-250 feet. This is helpful if you live in a rural area, depending on how far away your neighbors are and the amount of neighborhood noise. The siren is a remote unit although it does require 110v for the supplied 9 volt power supply. It has battery backup in case of power failure. I have the siren located about 20 feet from the control unit and it works fine.
The only problem I had was with programing it to the main unit. There have been three versions of software for this unit developed over the years and each requires a specific programing procedure. Identifying the serial number on back of the main control was supposed to identify which version I had but this proved to be incorrect but fortunately for Mace's fantastic tech support I was able to resolve this problem fairly easily. My advice is that if the one of the two programing techniques don't work then try following the other procedure. Again, it's not super loud but does help in providing a deterrent.

4/4/2011: The day and night video is pretty good. The installation process was flawless. Unfortunately I can't use the camera as a baby monitor since the audio static is awful. The static is so loud you can't hear anything. Hopefully Dlink will address my concern. I'll update my review once I hear back from them. See my video if you'd like to hear the bad static. Also Dlink hasn't fixed the audio problem with the Iphone App. You only get video with the Iphone. I have the Iphone 4 with iOS 4.3 installed.
4/5/2011: I contacted Dlink support. They said they know about the audio problem and they don't plan to fix it. Ughh! I'm going to return this one and see if a new one sounds better. I'll post more once I get the new one.
4/14/2011: I received my new DCS-932L from Amazon today. The audio is just as bad with this camera. What a shame. I even upgraded my java version to 1.6.0_24-b07. Ughh. Time to send it back or pray for a firmware fix.

Right out of the box one of the cameras didn't work. The other camera's would not work if they were in direct sunlight because of the infra red light from the sun so i could not put any camera near a window or door. You also cannot mount the cameras in any other position that flat because the housing cannot rotate or turn. If you try and mount them on a wall or ceiling your images will record upside down or sideways.
I emailed the seller 3X about this to see about returning it and in 4 days they could not bother to respond. I had to file an A2Z claim with Amazon and then they finally responded after about two weeks. After returning the product it still took another 2 weeks to get a credit. I never did get refunded for shipping like i was told i would either, Just the price of the crappy camera system. I was very disappointed all the way around.
