As a computer and Audio Video Tech with over 10 years of experience. I tell you go read the Forums in x10 even though the forum has been mostly deleted . You will know the hard hidden facts about this junk.
I had paid nearly $300- for a x10 camera kit for a client to install. The software is incompatible to all platforms. Has major glitches. Hardware , the cams are third class quality and so is the support. If you have nothing to do in life and want to sit and waste time on trying to figure out defective products then this is it.
Don't buy anything wireless from x10. Go Wired if you must. But then the software will not support its own hardware. So go figure ! or just stay away from it anyway.

Optex RCTD-20U Wireless 2000 Annunciator Driveway Alarm Review

Optex RCTD-20U Wireless 2000 Annunciator Driveway Alarm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased another product about a year ago (I won't mention their name, but the acronym is VA). It was total garbage, because despite so-called "filters", it picked up every darn bird, squirrel, cat, and everything else. Like the proverbial "Boy who cried wolf", what's the point of an alert system that gives you so many false alarms that you can no longer tell what is real and what isn't?
But, this product is 100x better...or in fairness...PERFECT! It has such an astonishingly accurate beam of detection that I could crawl down my driveway crouched low with my head down, and it wouldn't pick me up (exactly what I wanted, to avoid small dogs triggering it). But, when repeating the same test with my head up, *BINGO*, it got me every time.
Moreover, unlike the other product, you cannot run fast past the sensors. Yea, that might not seem like a big deal, but when potential hoodlums run up your driveway to cause damage to your automobile, you kinda want the device to tell you. My previous purchase couldn't detect it, but this product can.
Don't get me wrong; it is sensitive so careful placement is important. For example, I replaced one of the transmitters over my front porch, to alert me when someone has approached my front door (but for questionable reasons, opted not to ring the doorbell). In the first two days, I received 3 false triggers, but it was my fault, and *not* the unit. The setting I picked for the unit was so wide, that it picked up squirrels walking on either side of my front steps. It was an easy fix as I just simply aimed the sensor higher up, to avoid the ground and aim more at my front door. NOT A SINGLE FALSE ALERT IN AN ENTIRE WEEK (versus several per-day with my other unit).
I didn't buy from J. Mac because I don't like their return policy. If they had offered a "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back", I would have bought from them. But it can be debated as to whether a motion sensor device is "defective" if it picks up a squirrel...and I didn't want to fight them on a return if this product didn't work as promised. It *does* work absolutely perfectly, but J. Mac lost out on my $$$ because of their own policy. Incidentally, the company I ultimately did purchase from did in fact have an absolute 30-day satisfaction guarantee or your money back. They got my business and I'm tickled pink!
Lastly, tech support (I made several pre-sales inquires) are fantastic, though they are a bit busy. This is not to be held against them, because if you sell technical product you're surely going to get quite a few calls. The tech I talked to was so great, he even gave me his private extension so that upon receipt, I could ask for assistance. It wasn't necessary as the darn thing worked so perfect.
Oh, and did I mention that I bought two kits (two transmitters and two receivers)? They are being used in an upstairs/downstairs arrangement where both receivers signal the same tone, so regardless of where we are in the house, we'll still hear it. Again, all 4 pieces work PERFECTLY.
If you opt for another product and are dissatisfied...don't blame me. I've told you to buy *this* item!
PS: Since the product is such a superior product, I see no reason why others should be as skeptical as me. I'm that way because I got burned on another product by another manufacturer. But since this item has proven itself, I don't see any problem purchasing from J. Mac.

I needed this battery for the backup system in my house alarm. I knew that the alarm company charges $70 for a service call, so I decided to see if I could find one for sale. Of course, Amazon came through, and their partner Arrowhead Company also came through. I ordered the battery on Monday, and it arrived ahead of schedule on Wednesday, saving me the price of a service call, and likely a higher price for the battery. If this one lasts as long as the last one, I'll be really happy.

The keychain works great - when you get it programmed into your system (Ge Simon). Oh and by the way it came with instructions in Chinese!
Had a problem finding the code to install it as it's not the master code - you have to use an installers code which is different. Once I found the code (which my security company didn't have)I was able to install it. NOTE - you must install it in group 01 - there are instructions floating around the internet to install it in 10 WHICH IS WRONG - if you install in 10 - your system will search for it even if you take the keychain out of the house and you will get a system malfunction.

Panasonic BB-HCM531A Outdoor Pan/Tilt PoE Security Network Camera (Silver) Review

Panasonic BB-HCM531A Outdoor Pan/Tilt PoE Security Network Camera (Silver)
Average Reviews:

For an outdoor IP camera, this camera rates high with me and even more so after comparing it with the Toshiba IK-WB15A IP camera. I set it up as a weather cam, but found it did really great as a security cam. With a 2GB SD memory card in it, I have seen over 10,000 images on it. I record every passing vehicle, triggered by motion, and every 60 seconds for the weather. Looking forward to getting the MegaPixel version soon.
Down side of this camera, no optical zoom options in this body style. The camera has a 10X digital zoom which is not something I see as not being good for much.
Now the good side:
Nice sharp images during the day time, even of moving objects like cars and people running past the camera.
Automatically adjusts the shutter speed at night, and does good in low light level, but not good enough for sharp images of moving objects at night.
Multiple alarm settings (5) really nice and easy to set up.
Records a great sharp image of moving objects in day time. I see all who drive by! Makes a great stand-alone security camera.
SD Memory card slot, with 2gb, I have about 10,000 images on it.
Multi view Screen, view 4 cameras at one time.
Can view and move PTZ over cell phone/PDAs.
Fast PTZ.
PTZ limits are nice and wide, both up and down, and side to side.
Audio I/O are located where they are protected from the weather, unlike the Toshiba IK-WB15A, that you cannot use if you use the sun shield.
Built in mic, very sensitive!! Not only can I see you, but I can hear you!
POE, makes for easy installation! Would not have it any other way. Love it!
Small body size.
Good WB control, the colors are true.
In general, I am very pleased with the way this camera works.

We've always had Uniden cordless phones but once we went to a wireless DSL, the static and interference has been a non-stop annoyance. We read good reviews about this Panasonic phone and decided to get it. We were not disappointed. Clear connections, no static ever, easy to set-up and lots of features. I especially like the speakerphone feature. Great phone! By the way, I shopped it around on the internet and found that Amazon had the lowest price, and, of course free shipping.

Skylink 89 Keyless Entry System Review

I initially bought this door opener keypad transmitter and found that it would not work transmitting through my metal garage door. If i was in the garage, or outside with the door open, the unit worked fine. But it would not transmit through the closed door to the garage door opener. I called the manufacturer (got voicemail and a call back), who said that it should work, return the purchase for credit, and get another unit. Having lost the required purchase receipt needed to return the item, I just bought another unit. Once again, the unit worked from inside the garage or when the door was open, but not when the door was closed. If you have a metal garage door, look for another product. This one will not open your metal door!

I was very satisfied to find this batterry available online. I called my alarm co because the sensor was continually beeping with the low batt alert. They offered to send a repair person out "for free", but said the batterry would cost $50.00!!!! I'm so glad I found an alternative. The batterry was very easy to install & only took about 5 minutes. Browsing hundreds of advertisements in the AMZN it is hard to make a choice, especially when most of the cards are made for the expensive DVR systems that I don't want to afford. At last, I find this is just what I want. It is a reliable cheaper card with free software that is good for home security system. The software on the CD-Rom is very simple to use. D-Link DCS-920 Wireless-G Internet Camera Review

D-Link DCS-920 Wireless-G Internet Camera
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought DCS910 in Nov.2008 and DCS920 one month later. I am quite satisfied with both of them and I did not meet any problem till now, or say I could solve the problems that I have found.
The network attached camera supports up to 640x480 in resolution. It is higher then lots of other network attached camera which has only 320x240. So the image quality is quite good. It has good vision in dim light. you could see image or video on your web browser. It supports both MS ActiveX and Sun Java for live video monitoring but it does NOT support sound :(
You may need to install ActiveX control plug-in and Sun Java plug-in for your browser to support live video.
The supplied DViewCam software also supports monitoring up to 32 cameras and you could record videos into computer hard disk. I have not used video record feture till now because it requires turning on computer and consumes too much router/switch band width. I think check from web from time to time is good enough for my needs.
It support user account management, NTP time sync, DDNS name service, FTP and email deliver of photos at the frequency you defined.
The device does not support SSL protocol, so your password could not be encrypted for delivery. So you could not use https or ftps for secured communication. But this is understandable because encryption cost too much resources for the embeded system. You could not expect too much from tiny embeded device. Anyway, normal web access and FTP upload are good enough if you do not have too much security concern.
It is quite simple to access the device from within the internal/home network because you PC and the camera are in the same network segment. But if you want to access the device from external/Internet, there are some other things to take care. You need to have some basic networking concept for the setup.
I have seen one user complain the tech support and blame the device to be not usable. I could understand the mensioned situation. It is not the user's fault nor the product's fault. Tech support is not wrong on what they said but they should explain clearly on the technical background and guide the user for a smooth set up. User is not network expert so it will be a little difficult for them to understand and follow the network rules.
Normally, ISP will only give one dynamic IP address to a user. The IP address will change when you turn on the router or after a certain period of time. So you need to keep track to your current IP address on the WAN port of your router. This is usually done by register a DDNS service(free or paid service). Most router support DDNS auto update service and this camera also supports it but you need to set it up in your device. All the devices in your home network will share this single IP address. Network applications will monitor communication port for TCP/IP communication. Different devices in your network have different unique IP address. The IP address for a specific device is unique in the network. So if you want to access your camera through the internet in a remote location, you need to have DDNS service set; set up a internal static IP address to your camera; setup your router port forward to your camera IP address. For example, use http://dcs910.mydomainname.com:9011/ to access your camera, you need to buy(or register a free child domain name from some website) your domain name 'mydomainname.com'; register your domain name to a DDNS server(paid or free service); setup your router to auto update DDNS for your current IP address; set router to forward 9011 port request to the 80 port of the static internal IP address that you have assigned to your camera(such as 192.168.0.3 depends on the settings on your router and camera). You may need an experienced friend to help you for the setting.
Even if you have set everything correctly, it not necessarily means you could watch live video in your office. You should be able to access static current image from web browser in your office but live video is another story. Normally office network is protected by firewall on gateway. Most office firewall uses proxy and only open ports for web requests and some predefined application ports and bann all other communications. The ActiveX and Java live video of this device may need dedicated port connection to open communication session but this will not be allowed by default on the proxy. So unless you know your network administrator and could ask them open the port for you, you will not able to access live video in office. This is not the problem of the device, it is the rule of the network security. But anyway, you could see still image of your home which is good enough.
I have used my DCS910 and DCS920 for 3 months and I am quite satisfied with the device. I would like to highly recommand this device to you for its clear image, easy setup(if you understand networking in and out), and resonable price.

Lorex LW2002W Portable LCD Wireless Surveillance System (White) Review

Lorex LW2002W Portable LCD Wireless Surveillance System (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was both and surprised and thrilled with the functionality and performance of the Lorex LW2002W. I really do mean thrilled with the performance. The video will give you more details on the functionality - but below is a summary of my likes and dislikes.
Pros
- Highly sensitive microphone
- Low light capability
- Very easy set-up
- Will interface with your television - will allow for a split screen using your picture-in-picture.
- Works with a recording device - a DVR, VCR, or other devices.
- Alarm for any changes in status - if it detects movement or sound
- Decent range (Not great but not bad)
- Monitor will support up to 4 cameras
Cons-
- Need to watch for audio feedback if the monitor gets to close to the camera (It could wake a baby) ... note that this is standard for any audio equipment if the receiver gets to close to the source.
- A bigger screen would be nice - if I was trying to find something to complain about
Final Verdict-
Great product at a reasonable price - the Lorex LW2002W is a easy product to review and enjoy!

I just bought this product and it's all what I expected. I just followed the quick installation guide, plugged in ethernet cable and the power, set the ip as recommended 192.168.0.20 on the camera and my wireless Netgear router and it works. I can view the camera immediately. But when I unplug the ethernet and into wireless mode, it didn't work. I ended up calling tech support and got a live support person in less than 5 minutes, he suggested I reboot(power down and up) my camera and router. The wireless mode now working.
I tried to set the camera up behind the router according to the instruction on the manual from the CD provided, it didn't work. After playing around for 3 hours, I finally figured out that the default port 80 and 8481 don't work, you have to open up the second port 81 and 8482. I IPView software provided in the CD does not have motion sensor, you can download the latest version of IPView with motion sensor for the DLINK website, and it works very well. It can detect a slightest movement.
PROS: price, good picture(can adjust brightness), motion sensor software(download latest IPView).
CONS: no audio, can not pan view(must manually pan camera), no email picture option.
