I have tested this item in different settings and environments. On a high noise setting you still can here the conversation clearly recorded via regular cell phone microphone. The way this company makes money is to sell you this useless item and than charge you 25% restocking fee even if the item has not been used. Stay away from this device!

Amazon was very good in returning my entire purchase price + the shipping cost. Also the return shipping was free. Amazon amazed me :) but skylink did not .

(More customer reviews)Normally video cameras have automatic gain control that turns up the sensitivity in low light. This camera does the opposite. In any light lower than bright office light it produces very dark and noisy pictures. In fact, instead of turning up the gain in low light it turns it down. I pointed it at a slightly dark area and then slid in a white piece of paper to see how the extra bright area affected the rest of the picture. A normal camera will reduce the gain when a bright object in introduced into the scene. In this case the background should have gotten darker when the white paper was put in the scene. But, it got brighter! It turns up the gain when the light level goes up! Either this camera was defective or it has a serious design flaw. In any case I'm returning it for a refund.

What I wanted was an unobtrusive camera with wide capture angle to replace a bulky and ugly camera that came with a package set. Installation was a snap and the microphone is nice b/c it does a nice job capturing conversations near the front door. Video quality is great and it's lasted 9 months so far without any problems. I'll plan to buy more of these as the need arises.

(More customer reviews)I spent the better part of a day installing, setting up, and experimenting with the Archerfish Quattro Interactive Video Monitoring system. My conclusion is that the hardware seems to be solid and reliable but that without a service subscription of $8/mo the product has limited use and appeal. The only features available without a service subscription are viewing recorded video (DVR) and live video. The event detection features that make the Archerfish different are not available. The box itself is pretty locked down and is not accessible in ANY WAY AT ALL from your local lan.
Combined with an extremely high up-front cost (approx $1,000 - $1,200) it's difficult to recommend it. What follow are some of my more detailed notes:
Packaging Contents
*Everything needed is included in the box: AC Adapters, cables, ethernet cable
*No printed instructions in the box but everything is easily available on linePhysical Setup
*Easy to setup/connect cables
*Camera mount needs wrench since they can't be threaded by hand
*Cameras have big bulky heavy adapters instead of lighter ones.
*No easy way to mount cameras level. No visual indicators on camera and video delays makes it tougher
*5 separate AC adaptors! Instead of powering cameras from receiver they need to be powered individually with their own AC AdapterRegistration
*Must provide credit card even for the basic subscription or the free 3 month subscriptionSoftware Setup
*Can't setup a static ip for the device.
*It does not seem to be possible to access the device directly via your local LAN.

*$870 ($1200 - $330) is a lot to pay for a device that has no hard drive, cannot be accessed from your network, and requires a paid subscription to make use of all of its
features and reliance on a the vendor to use at all. Imagine buying a computer and only being able to use it as long as the company was in business and offered a service.Quality
*Video quality is Ok. Nothing great. Some of the other cameras I have used from Axis offer much, much better video quality
*No audio. This might be fine for surveillance but home users may be interested in Audio since this can be useful as a baby monitor or a monitor inside the home.Security and Privacy
*All of the video that is recorded by the Quattro (except for the DVR function where it just records all the cams all the time) is stored on the Archerfish website.
*Archerfish does not provide any information about how they safeguard the data. All they say is that their portal is secure and their servers are hosted.
*There is no mention of encryption

(More customer reviews)This is pricey, but compared to other products in this category it is not that bad. The DVR is the expensive part. I have to say that the DVR is feature-rich. Everything was plug-and-play. The mounting brackets for the cameras are top-notch. I was worried the wires would not be long enough for me to put cameras at each end of my house and still hook it up to the TV, but I had plenty of wire.
My two complaints are (1) the remote control sometimes has problems. Thankfully, I do not use the remote very often. What it does is sometimes activates the controls of a nearby button. For example, pressing play will sometimes make the video fast forward instead. It seems to be ok if you press the buttons slowly and hard, but you shouldn't have to do that. (2) This isn't specific to this item, but just a word of caution that I put some of the cameras indoors, looking outside through a window. At night, the infrared lights come on and reflect off the window so that there is no picture. Any IR light will reflect off glass, so the manufacturer is not to blame. However, I wish there were a way to turn off the IR lights. Instead I put electrical tape over the lights, and it works fine (with no IR of course). So you need to put the cameras outside, or cover the IR lights, or just not record in the dark.
In daylight the picture is excellent. I have two cameras recording at 20 fps, and two recording at 10 fps. You can split up the total of 60 fps anyway you want among the 4 cameras. Even though it records up to 60 fps, the real-time video is better than 20 fps in all cameras.
I have my settings set to the highest quality video, recording day and night, and I get about a week of history before it starts writing over the oldest video. Not bad!
Edit after owning it for a few months:
I should lower the rating to three stars. The main reason is that the device will sometimes randomly stop recording. The fix is easy, however, just turn it off and back on. The other thing is that the DVR is also pretty loud (just an annoyance).

(More customer reviews)This unit is NOT intended to be used outside. If used in an outdoor setting as mentioned in another review, it will suffer the same fate as any other electronic device not designed to be exposed to the elements. It is also not a replacement for a home security system. This device was designed to warn a homeowner of a door or window being opened or tampered with, and perhaps give him/her time to call 911 or get away.
The alarm is loud enough to be heard one or two rooms away and probably loud enough to give any would-be intruder second thoughts about entering a home. The vibration detection seems to work pretty well, but isn't overly sensitive. A light tap on a window isn't going to set this thing off and it seems to take a pretty solid thump to get the alarm to sound. I actually think it is tuned just about right as far as sensitivity goes as it will definitely detect someone trying to break the window but won't constantly be going off every time a truck drives by.
The magnetic contact is a plus, as it can be used to detect glass breakage or a sliding window being opened normally. I have mine positioned so that I can leave my window cracked open for ventilation but get a warning if the window is moved. I have had these up for a couple of months now and so far every alarm I have purchased is functioning well with no problems.

Bracketron UFM-300-BX Nav-Pack Weighted GPS Dash Mount/Carrying Case Review

(More customer reviews)I have a Garmin 255W and wanted a holder that would keep the GPS shaded on long trips while setting on the dash. The weighted Garmin dash mount I have was very stable but provided no shelter from the hot sun. This looked like the answer and I got it. I had concerns that this would muffle the voice coming out of the back of the GPS but it does not diminish the sound at all. On a local trip of five miles today, this Nav-Pac slipped off the dash twice when accelerating from a full stop. My dash is plastic and not very slippery but this holder just does not have enough surface area to keep from slipping off, unlike my Garmin dash mount. I do like this Nav-Pack and I will put a piece of Velcro on the bottom of the Nav-Pack and a piece attached to my dash. This should solve the problem of slipping off the dash but I'm not thrilled about a piece of Velcro stuck to my dash. I suggest this Nav-Pack ONLY if you want protection from the sun on your GPS and also using Velcro, unless you want a GPS falling into your lap...
UPDATE: Wife found a silicone potholder at Target. Its thin as a silver dollar, translucent and about 12" square and very flexible. Works great when on dash and Nav-Pak is placed on top of it. No more sliding now...

The instruction booklet that comes with the unit is poorly written, when I was having problems with the unit and attempted to return, called company and was told I had to speak to a tech support person (there is no reference or number inside the box for any such person).... they gave me the number. The unit gives very poor, distorted voice transmission - at either end of the scale, you cannot understand a word the person talking through the unit is saying. Very unsatisfactory product. I have owned other voice changes (years ago), that worked exactly as advertised - this one does not. I had to spend alot of money to send it back, and I'm not sure I'll even get full credit for the return - the "handling" charge is very high as well, for such a small item.

(More customer reviews)Beware of this cam unless your have good network and webcam setup experience. The instructions are so poorly translated into English that it's laughable. The setup software will stump you quickly unless you know your way around network config, IP cams and the particulars of your existing home network. The included "Super Client" software appears to be a trial product that you must buy if you want to use it longer than one hour per day. I don't recall any mention of that in the Amazon product descriptions. At least I can't find any included reg code and every time your run the software you are prompted to download a new version...the same version you just downloaded.
The cam displays good quality video. Pan and tilt work fine. Ftp options are literally non-existent. For example, I need to ftp during daylight hours only. There is no way to schedule ftp...it's either on or off. Period.

(More customer reviews)I got rid of long distance on my home phone because I can call nationwide on my cell phone. Well walking around the house with my cell phone/ear piece was not convenient. I knew there had to be a better way. Well this is it. This phone is awesome. I read up on the technology and I was afraid my cell phone would not work. I have a T-mobile MDA and my husband has the BlackBerry 8000 series. Both phones linked via bluetooth in less than a minute. As long as your bluetooth is 1.1 or higher, there should not be a problem is my understanding. Reception is great. I had a 5.8mhz phone and could only make it to the front porch before I got static. With this phone I got all the way to the mail box at the end of the ( short ) driveway. The "Cell" and "home" feature work seperately so one person can make a "cell" call on one handset and another person can make a "home" call on the other hand set. Also if you are on a cell call and the home phone rings ( and vice versa) the phone will blink to let you know. I looked into other makes Panasonic,Vtech etc. and liked this one because of the price, the features and the fact that it has 2 handsets.There are a few cons, you can only link 2 cell phones to the unit; you have to keep the cell phones near the base unit ( this is not where I usually leave my phone so I have forgotten it a few times), the black berry automatically searches and connects to the base when it is within range ( which may or may not be an issue) I must manually connect my MDA to the base each time ( which may or may not be an issue). All in all, So far, I have been very pleased with this phone.

It works great and is a lot of fun recording different sounds and having them play when people walk by. Now when we have a football party (TCU!!) we have it play then anthem when people show up! Hehe. They all get a laugh when they come in. Now onto Thanksgiving. We found that we can just stick it on the refrigerator and leave messages for the kids too! Just press the button and record your message and stick on the fridge. Kid shows up and hears it, simple. Great idea for just ~$20.
