(More customer reviews)I bought the the similar model to this on for my store, mine is L15LD420. The only difference is this model 17" monitor, mine is 15", my model had 4 channels like this one, the system came with Seagate 320MB hard drive (the instruction indicated that the system can handle up to 500 MB hard drive) . I just used it just for a simple security system , no internet connected. Just one month after the one year warranty the DVR give me the status "HDD bad" . I bought another Seagate 500MB HDD the model that design for surveillance system that can handle the high temperature (not the regular HDD for daily computer used), I have to pay more for this type of HDD. The system work with new HDD for couple weeks the the same symptom "Bad HDD" happened again. Because the system said "Bad HDD" so I bought a third HDD ,this time is 500MB Western Digital HDD, which is design for surveillance camera , after plug in the system will work couple day then same symptom happened again . I installed the two 500 MB Seagate and WD to my computer, after reformated the two disks function OK, that tell me that the problem is not the HDD but the Lorex DVR system.
My concerned is: This is a $1500 (after tax and shipping) product and it broke down just one month after a year (Lorex warranty only one year). If you pay more than one thousand for a products such as 42" LCD flat screen TV or a flattop/desktop computer or a nice full size digital camera or a HD camcorder or a refrigerator or ..... those will last couple years easily.
I believe Lorex made a crappy products and their price quite high. After couple phone called with Lorex Tech-Support I gave those guys a thump-up but what those guy can do with a crappy products.

(More customer reviews)I gave 5 stars to installation ease, but please remember that's relative to the type of project in general.
Was installing remote start on a co-worker's '07 Saturn Ion, just because other bypass modules say they support this car doesn't mean they do. This is the ticket for the Ion, even tells you the correct wire colors unlike others. Just make sure the jumper is actually set for the Ion, it says it's the factory setting but mine was not set that way. Took a moment to figure that out but once I moved the jumper it worked perfect. Instructions are easy to follow and well written.

(More customer reviews)Having bought this alarm for my own windows, slider and screen doors, I recommend it highly. It is a very simple system and inexpensive way to secure your home, alerting you to an attempt at intrusion with a loud alarm.
When installed, the magnetic field is broken when the window or door opened and the alert sounds out.
There is a simple on and off switch when you do not want the system active.
For hotter, humid climates such as Florida, I have found using heavy duty velcro a more reliable way to secure the alarm for the long run than the double sided foam provided.
Buy this if you're worrying about breakins! You'll sleep better.

(More customer reviews)I use this firewall at my home. Probably overkill, but it had what I wanted. Nice that it runs the same operating system as the larger enterprise size firewalls. The configuration is easy using the intuitive wizards and the GUI. Command line options are easy if you are familiar with Cisco CLI. Built in switch with PoE makes for nice addition. A little on the pricey side for your average home user, but great price point for business users in SOHO environment.

DOME SECURITY CAMERA Review

(More customer reviews)These $6 'cameras' have a menacing bright flashing LED. They look real. The LED can be turned on/off but I'll bet a pair of AA's will keep the LED flashing for a looooong time. For grins & giggles I outfitted mine w/ a dummy wire leading from the dome camera to logical places to route electricity to. I keep them mounted high and out of reach to prevent curious thieves from investigating their authenticity. Another bonus is they look very similar to real dome cameras. So you can mount a bunch of fake domes, have a couple real ones, and it's hard for the bad guys to tell the difference.
Now the down side. I bought 4, and all 4 had the black glare hood dohickey installed crooked. So if you want it to look right, you get to disassemble the thing w/ tiny screws and interior springs and reassemble it. [Hint: a little dab of superglue keeps the springs in the right place when you reassemble it]. Also, mounting is a bit tricky. You need to mount 2 screws (included) precisely 3.000 inches apart and oriented in the right way to get the camera pointing the right direction. Kind of a PITA. Otherwise this would be a 5/5.

AT&T DECT 6.0 CL82409 Digital 6-handset Cordless Telephone with Caller ID/Call Waiting Review

Audio quality reports from folks I called were very good.
One friend said it sounded like a corded phone.
Range is much further than 5.8 phones. About
300' so far with no back ground noise and solid dial tone.
Will try at the mail box soon, thats another 150' or so.
I have tried to find out if DECT 6.0 phones have a better encryption scheme,
but unable to find specifics.
We are very happy with the new CL82409 phones.
Total talk time looks like its going to be very good.
We purchased from Amazon.com and we are very pleased with them as well.

(More customer reviews)I was hesitant to buy this system instead of a complete setup with DVR due to compatibility/driver issues, but I was pleasantly suprised. The instructions in the setup software were a little unclear at times, but the user manual filled in any gaps along the way. I was also impressed to find that the features of the program for recording, motion sensor, network connectivity, etc. were powerful and easy to navigate.
I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants to use their PC and save the cost of adding a new DVR. In fact, I was able to buy a new PC with 500G storage for less than a DVR with the same size hard drive!
I only wish the cameras had a smoked glass cover so nobody could tell which direction the lens is pointed. These have a plastic cover with a clear slit through which the lens looks. That said, they do a great job and the motion detection is helpful for recording and monitoring.

Unfortunately this product is entirely unsuitable for office use since it is extremely loud (my neighbors can hear it through the walls) and the door chime rings three times when one time would more than suffice. The "Welcome" voice is in Chinese so it is not suitable for use in an office dealing with non-Chinese speaking customers.
If I were working in a louder environment this product might be fine, but for an office it is too loud, the music is too shrill, and the voice isn't in English.

Mac shipped it right away, and it arrived in good shape. I ordered it as a replacement for the back-up ELK 1280 in our alarm system, and the fittings and size were the same. I wasn't sure if the system would lose the settings when I switched batteries, but it continued to get power from the AC transformer, so there was no problem.

Astra ASTRA 50 Keyless Entry Review

(More customer reviews)Worked well for my 1993 Grand Marquis. Installed in a day (after a few headaches, but that's to be expected for a first time experience) and works very well. Where I mounted the receiver limits the range of the remote, but I plan on extending the antenna soon. It's been working very well for a year now.
The remotes look and feel great. The buttons have held up nicely and the battery in the remote hasn't died.
The small package has lots of features. I've installed trunk pop and dome illumination as a few of the optional features.
There's nothing better for the price. Grab this kit, it's great.
