(More customer reviews)Set up the security system in December, seemed to be working. During the winter the camera quit. Other dislikes are: If elec goes off, it will not reset. Shadows and wind will start the camera, a lot of false recordings. Can't play back all of recorded events. Tried to call 800 number in manual, not available. Tried three other numbers, finally got to leave a message which was never returned. Wrote to the company, still waiting for an answer.

(More customer reviews)The defender wireless security system has performed outstandingly so far. We've had the system for about 3 months. It is workng perfectly and nothing has broken down. The cameras provide a very clear picture and the night vision feature is clear and is much longer range than stated. We have had the cameras going in -20 degrees blizzard conditions and the cameras never failed. High wind has set them off to record however. The audio microphone (to speak to an intruder, or whoever outside) is a great feature. You can be clearly heard. And the person of course can talk back to you. We find that there is every convenience, such as turning off any one of the cameras to keep from recording if you are constantly going in and out. You can delete recordings one at at a time after review or all at once if you know the content. Zoom feature is great to see more detail. Quad picture of all camera angles being shown at once or scroll feature of showing one camera angle at a time is great. You can also apply screen saver to have a blank screen until camera detects movement and then will come on with an alert. For the money, this is as good as it gets. Economical and quality equipment.

(More customer reviews)A couple of minor problems only. CD with documentation and instructions is for an earlier version of software and load up must be done manually on Windows XP.
This system requires a dedicated hard drive or a partitioned hard drive to properly work.
While I doubt if the equipment was originally $1,000. This is good equipment with clear cameras, working IR, and what must be advanced security software as it is quite flexible in processing surveillance footage.
The seller is helpful.
The only question in my mind is whether to buy a second set to expand.

Upon putting the batteries in (yes they were in correctly) the unit got extremely hot and the batteries (brand new, purchased same day) got extremely hot. Before I could get the batteries out the unit was smoking. When I went to return, the Amazon page said the items were not returnable. So I spent over $70 for nothing. Do not purchase these our you will be out money too. Shame on Amazon, Shame on US Patrol.

(More customer reviews)I installed the whole system - doors, motion sensor and extra siren. I bought the second siren because I did not think that the sound level was adequate. Even with two sirens working, and one mounted with only window glass and the outside, you still cannot hear it from even a short distance away. The alarm system is loud enough for the inside of the house, but it will not allert a neighbor, which was a feature that I was looking for. Other than that, the system works as advertised and is ease to set up and install.

To my surprise when the package arrived, the first thing I noticed on the box was "No HDD included". Good thing I have an extra 600Gb SATA HDD on my HP Pavilion desktop, and I took that one off and used it on the DVR. I would have given it three stars if the product description was accurate. I would rate setting up the DVR as above average difficulty. One should be ready to get some BNC to RCA adapters and plug in an extra monitor or compatible TV as needed.
